Seeking New Board and Committee Members

The Druid Hills Education Foundation was established in 2022 to promote and enrich the education and development of ALL Druid Hills High School students. Its aim is to support the school’s academics, athletics, and the arts.


We are seeking board and committee level volunteers to join the Druid Hills Education Foundation. We have a number of jobs to be filled by both existing and new board members, and other committee volunteers. 

 

If you are the parent/guardian of a new or current Red Devil, or a DHHS alum or community member,

we need YOU.

Fast Facts

  • Board Term - 2 years

  • Starts July 1, 2024 and goes through June 30, 2026 

  • Board members should plan to attend Board monthly meetings and take the lead role on a job, with a total time commitment of ~five  hours per month depending on the job. 

  • Non-board committee members may begin at any point and serve as they have capacity, with varying levels of responsibility. 

Process and Timeline

  • Complete the Druid Hills Education Foundation Board and Committee Interest Form by May 6, 2024, to express your interest. 

  • The DHEF Executive Committee will review interest forms and reach out to schedule an additional discussion/interview with potential Board members. 

    • Board interviews:  Saturday morning, May 11th and Tuesday evening, May 14th

  • New Board members to be confirmed on June 4th to start a new term effective July 1, 2024. 

  • New board member onboarding to begin in July.

Full DHEF Job Descriptions

  • Annual Campaign Coordination - Plans and executes annual campaign strategy in collaboration with officers and other board members in specific roles (Business Sponsorship, Community Outreach, Alumni Engagement , School Engagement, Donor Stewardship, Communications, Volunteer Coordination). Ensures materials are ready by school start-up and that communication. is clear and comprehensive. Raises money for DHEF and DHHS specific programs. 

  • Grant Coordination / Writing - Identifies grants that are a fit and writes grants as needed or recruits others to write grants. Raises money for DHEF and DHHS specific programs. 

  • Business Sponsorship Coordination - In collaboration with partner organizations, builds strategy and coordinates business sponsorships. Raises money for DHEF and DHHS specific programs.

  • Alumni Engagement Coordination- Engages DHHS alumni for fundraising appeals but also for all events and activities where there may be a role for alumni (Red Devil Bash, Druid Hills Dash, Annual Campaign, etc.)

  • School Engagement Coordination - Engages DHHS students and staff, and possibly broader cluster schools in events and activities (Bash, Dash, etc.) and gets information from them to guide the work of DHEF when needed. Ensures student and staff are considered and represented in DHEF activities. 

  • Community Outreach Coordination - Engages DHHS community including neighbor, Emory University,  for events, activities and programs where there is an opportunity (e.g., Dash, Bash, Annual Campaign, etc)

  • Donor Stewardship - Ensures that best practices in donor relations are followed including gift acknowledgment, any donor benefits, sharing out what funds were spent on, organizing any thank you events for donors, etc.  Ensures information is entered in the donor database in a timely and accurate manner (can do this or recruit a volunteer to handle the data entry).  Must go through the Bloomerang CRM training.

  • Communications Coordination - Ensures communication is relevant, accurate and appropriate to various stakeholder groups. Works in collaboration with Event Coordinators, Annual Campaign Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, and anyone who is communicating to DHEF stakeholders.  Requires skills and familiarity with communications strategy and tactics (e.g., email, graphics, social media).

  • Volunteer Coordination - Ensures there is an always on pipeline for recruiting volunteers to support all events and campaigns.

  • Red Devil Bash Coordination -  Responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of the DHEF signature Bash event starting 6 months prior to event date.  Works with Volunteer Coordinator to identify volunteers and roles needed.  Works in collaboration with Community Outreach, Business Sponsorship, Communications and Alumni and School Engagement.

  • Druid Hills Dash Coordination - Responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of the DHEF signature Dash 5k starting 6 months prior to event date.  Works with Volunteer Coordinator to identify volunteers and roles needed.  Works in collaboration with Community Outreach, Business Sponsorship, Communications and Alumni and School Engagement.

  • Special Events Coordination -  Responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of any special events DHEF decides to do in coordination and not in competition with Dash and Bash. Works with other Coordinator jobs as appropriate.  

  • President - The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation and shall give general supervision and direction to the affairs of the Corporation, subject to the direction of the Board of Directors.

  • Vice President - The Vice President shall act in the case of the absence or disability of the President and shall have other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.

  • Treasurer - The Treasurer shall be responsible for the maintenance of proper financial books and records of the Corporation, and shall have custody of its funds and other assets and shall serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation. 

  • Secretary - The Secretary shall give notice of all meetings of the Board of Directors for which notice is required, shall keep the minutes of the proceedings of the Board of Directors, and shall maintain the general records of the Corporation.

The Executive Committee consists of four roles - the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary who lead the organization, maintain financial and general records, manage board succession and  ensure strong collaboration with partner organizations regarding budget and grant processes, reporting and accountability to each other.

​

The DHEF works to raise funds in collaboration with partner organizations - the DHHS Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Druid Hills Fine Arts Alliance (DHFAA) and Druid Hills Athletic Association (DHAA).
